Shot in the Dark Sherwani

Sale priceRs. 25,000.00

Our passions have the tendency to disrupt even the most soothing situations - and this is a good thing. A bold, hand-painted heart dripping with passion is layered dramatically over large-scale 18th-century Florentine damask in this striking sherwani. Cut generously long for maximum impact, the original artwork is faithfully reproduced on a rich, heavily textured 100% pure cotton that moves and breathes with you. The tailoring features a concealed placket with hidden metal buttons to preserve the clean lines of the garment and the continuity of the artwork.

01 The Origin Story

1.1 The Origin

Shot in the Dark

Our passions have the tendency to disrupt even the most soothing situations...and this is a good thing. A big, bold, shocking heart dripping with passion was hand painted and scanned in to layer onto large scale 18th Century Florentine damask textiles drawings. (Original Medium: Pen and Ink, Collage, and Acrylic on Artist Board; 40 x 60 in; Year: ca 1760 and 2026; Artists: Unknown 18th Century Artist and DeWitt Kendall)

1.2 The gesture

Hand-painted heart layered on damask

A bold heart was hand-painted in acrylic, then scanned and layered over large-scale 18th-century Florentine damask drawings rendered in pen, ink, and collage.

1.3 The translation

From canvas to fabric

The original artwork was painstakingly reproduced on substantial 100% natural fiber fabric.

1.4 The form

Where it finds shape

The artwork comes to life on the garment, placed with intention, yet allowed to move with the body. As the fabric drapes and shifts, the composition reveals itself differently from every angle.
